Ingredients of Moxclav 375 Tablet
Amoxycillin: Moxclav 375 Tablet contains amoxycillin (250mg). Amoxycillin belongs to the penicillin group of antibiotics. It is mainly used to treat bacterial infections.
Potassium Clavulanate: Moxclav 375 Tablet contains potassium clavulanate (125mg). Potassium clavulanate is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. it generally increases the activity of amoxycillin.
How does Moxclav 375 Tablet work? / Mechanism of action
Amoxycillin in Moxclav 375 Tablet works by binding to PBP (penicillin-binding proteins) and inhibits the transpeptidation step in peptidoglycan synthesis. This in result causes the inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis.
Potassium clavulanate in this medicine is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Bacteria cause the formation of beta-lactamase enzymes that affects the activity of amoxycillin. Potassium clavulanate inhibits the activity of the beta-lactamase enzymes and helps in increasing the efficiency of amoxycillin against bacterial infections.
